Councilman Jon Snyder
Councilman Jon Snyder is serving his first term and is founder and owner of the award-winning Out There Monthly magazine and co-owner of the Go Green Directory. He is a proud graduate of Lewis and Clark High School and earned a degree in media studies at Evergreen State College. He and his wife Heidi Arbogast are developers of a historic building in Peaceful Valley where they live with their two children.
Snyder’s achievements on the Spokane City Council include working for the passage of a balanced city budget l that increased human services funding and increased rainy day reserves despite closing an $8 million dollar budget gap. Snyder also authored or sponsored major pieces of city legislation such as: the Complete Streets Ordinance, reforms to promote the Office of Police Ombudsman, new procedures for neighborhood use of traffic calming funds, and a resolution updating the City’s ADA policy.

In the past he has served on the Spokane Regional Transportation Council, the Spokane Transit Authority, and was the first board president for KYRS, Thin Air Community Radio. In 2009 he won a Society of Professional Journalists regional award for his opinion writing. Snyder was recently nominated by the Alliance Club at SFCC to receive an LGBTQ Ally Award. His wife, Heidi Arbogast, is an arts educator, and his two children attend Spokane Public Schools.
